Object Conservator & Heritage Professional
As an Object Conservator my role is to examine, document, treat, and preserve collections and heirlooms. Different to a restorer, conservation is meant to maintain the current physical condition of the object and prevent further deterioration to preserve its historical integrity.
I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Saskatchewan in 2014, but I didn’t see myself taking the path of a curator or designer. What I didn’t know existed was being a Conservator – an individual responsible for the care and preservation of cultural items such as artwork, buildings, and artifacts. I went to Fleming College to complete a Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management post-graduate diploma and completed all the requirements in the fall of 2017.
I’ve had a range of work experiences across Canada – from the Parks Canada Inorganics Conservation lab in Winnipeg, as an intern at Canadian Museum on Nature's Conservation Lab in Gatineau, an intern at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum in Kitchener, a Project Assistant for the Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin in Williams Lake, along with private work with clients in Saskatchewan.
As a member of the Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property I abide by their mandate and code of ethics. Click on the button below to learn more about the association.
